I have found that the best way to see it is to hold a flashlight at the 12:00 position, level with the watch. Then use a loupe or magnifying glass (or the magnifier thingy on an iPhone) to look at the area where the laser etched crown should be.

Does anyone know if ref no. 116500LN should have one? My friend purchased a pre-owned Daytona; however, we couldn't locate the laser etched crown. So I have four modern Rolex watches from 2019, 2020, and 2021. On all of those watches (purchased new from the AD) I can barely see the laser etched crown in the crystal. I have to get out a 10X loop and get the lighting perfect to see it. A mobile phone camera should be able to capture it at an oblique angle as well, note the crown signet visible in the picture. Try lighting it at <45* and moving your head or the watch around at slight angles - you should be able to see it on the crystal with your naked eye. What I found is that real Rolex etching is difficult to get the lighting right but aftermarket crystal etching is easier to notice. My opinion is that it’s genuine. However, if you’re concerned take into an AD and they will check for free.
