Switching to a 1-stage belt drive would probably mean losing the spindle tacho readout which would be a shame.

I am looking to convert my Weiss WMD25LV (Amadeal AMD25LV) to CNC, I have no experience in this type of conversion and am hoping for some guidance or has someone performed this conversion and is willing to share the details.
I would strongly recommend setting it up with ballscrews before that though, that would be a more important upgrade IMO. In fact Digits had suggested the use of slides earlier in this build thread, and installing them would make the task of . Because it is a three-pulley, two-belt drive setup, with the center pulley acting as an idler with both belts on it, changing the spindle speed requires removing and changing the position of both belts.
